David is an author, lecturer, examiner and workshop leader on risk management and business continuity subjects.  He guides a diverse range of companies and public sector organisations on risk related issues around the world.

David has spent much of his working life resident, and with chief executive responsibility for financial services businesses, in Europe, the Caribbean and the Far East.  He later became a Divisional Director within the Multinational Group with responsibility world-wide for operational risk and continuity planning.  In this role David gained further practical experience as he became the leader of teams that had to respond to a number of man made and natural incidents that were potentially organisation-destructive. 

A two year secondment to a Police Service further widened his risk and response experiences. He is the Institute of Risk Management’s lead examiner on business continuity, and his books are used by professional institutes and Universities as core texts. David was also part of the team that has developed the new British Standard BS25999 on business continuity.  He is a member of the advisory board of CCEP in Canada and its World Conference on Disaster Management.

His first book is the textbook for the Chartered Insurance Institute's examination syllabus on Operational Risk. His second book, A Risk Management Approach to Business Continuity is written jointly with Julia Graham and brings together the principles of both Risk Management and Business Continuity Management.  This book, is sold worldwide and is also used as an examination course text. 

Managing Risk and Resilience in the Supply Chain, was published by the British Standards Institution in 2008 and again has been identified by universities and business schools as a core textbook.

David is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute, and a Member of the Institute of Risk Management.
